A wide variety of practices fall in the category of energy therapy, including acupuncture, bioenergy healing, chakra work, craniosacral therapy, polarity therapy, Reiki, and shamanic healing.
Benefits
Energy therapy can accelerate recovery from injury, help heal emotional trauma, increase focus and self awareness, reduce pain, induce relaxation, reduce stress, and support the healing of chronic disorders.

Utilizing the healing power of plants
Plants, plant-based foods and herbal remedies play an important role in our holistic, integrative functional medicine approach at The Healing Garden.
Herbal medicine, sometimes called phytomedicine or botanical medicine, uses plants to support, treat and heal the body naturally. Herbal medicine may take the form of foods, teas, tinctures, poultices, and salves.
Many medicinal plants have been used for thousands of years by cultures around the world. Different herbalists may choose specific medicinal plants for their functional, chemical, energetic, ritual, or shamanic purposes.
Uses of herbal medicine
Herbal Medicine can aid in the treatment of these and many other conditions:
Anxiety
Arthritis
Depression
High blood pressure
Hormonal imbalances
Insomnia
Migraines
Nausea
Poor blood circulation
Skin problems
What to expect
Often medicinal herbs act more slowly than pharmaceuticals, yet they may be equally or more effective while also being more gentle on the body. As with any medicine, it’s important to monitor your body closely when you are using medicinal plants and to report anything unexpected to your herbalist or physician.
Herbal medicine at The Healing Gardens
Our physicians frequently incorporate herbal remedies in patient treatment plans. For example, we may recommend an herbal medicine, such as oil of oregano, as an alternative to some antibiotics.
We also have several licensed herbalists in our network of partner healthcare providers.
Our Medicinal Store
We carry many plant-based medicines and herbal remedies in The Healing Gardens Medicinal Store.

Relaxing, activating and re-aligning the body
Therapeutic massage has been practiced around the world for over 5,000 years. It involves applying direct pressure to body tissues, joints and organs to improve the function of the muscular, nervous, circulatory, lymphatic and immune systems.
Massage therapy at The Healing Gardens
At The Healing Gardens we regularly incorporate massage therapy in treatment plans for physical, mental and energetic health issues. We use massage therapy to treat
Sports injuries
Stress, anxiety and depression
Joint and muscle pain
Structural alignment
Circulation
Immune and lymphatic system function
Post-surgery rehabilitation
Peripheral nervous system conditions
These and many other health conditions benefit from massage therapy because the manipulation of soft tissues and deep tissue affects so many systems in the body.

We have several highly-skilled massage therapists in our network of care providers. Each has specialized expertise in massage therapy techniques including
Relaxation massage
Neuromuscular rehabilitation
Prenatal massage
Postpartum massage

Freeing the body to move in alignment
At The Healing Gardens we have found that myofascial release therapy often helps solve persistent physical problems that cannot be resolved by physical therapy, chiropractic treatments or massage therapy alone.
How it works
Myofascial Release (MFR) is the gentle sustained stretching of the connective tissue of the body. Trauma, inflammatory processes, and/or surgical procedures can create myofascial restrictions that can produce tensile pressures of approximately 2,000 pounds per square inch on pain-sensitive structures such as muscles, organs, lymphatics, nerves, and the circulatory system.
These restrictions do not show up in many standard tests (X-rays, myelograms, CAT scans, electromyography, etc.). Myofascial Release (myo = muscle; fascia = connective tissue) addresses the “straight-jacket” of pressure that is causing the pain and restricted range of motion.
Myofascial release therapy relieves this pain by stretching and releasing the injured fascia so muscles may return to their proper position and move freely.
Conditions helped by myofascial release therapy
Back and neck pain
Carpal tunnel syndrome
Dizziness
Fibromyalgia
Fibrositis
Headache/Migraine
Myofascial pain dysfunction
Plantar fasciitis
Post-polio symptoms
Thoracic outlet syndrome
TMJ
Trigger points
Whiplash

Correcting structural problems to empower healing
The body has an amazing ability to heal itself, and osteopathic medicine focuses on empowering that healing ability by improving musculoskeletal position and function. Like functional integrative medicine, osteopathic medicine takes a holistic healthcare approach, looking at how the different systems of the body can affect one another.
What is a doctor of osteopathy?
Osteopaths are licensed physicians with a specialized training in identifying and correcting musculoskeletal issues that may undermine the body’s natural ability to heal itself from injury and illness. They treat the body as a wholly integrated system.
Osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT)
A form of non-invasive manual medicine, osteopathic manipulative treatment includes many hands-on techniques typically associated with physical therapy, chiropractic, massage and myofascial release treatment. These include joint manipulation, spinal alignment, stretching and deep tissue work.
Conditions that may benefit from osteopathic treatment
Arthritis
Asthma
Back and neck pain
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
Depression
Fatigue
Fibromyalgia
Gastrointestinal disorders such as Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
Headaches & migraines
Menstrual pain
Recovery after surgery
