Bio: Run by the husband and wife team of Sara Jordan Skowronski (CAGS, LPC, ATR-BC, Expressive Arts Therapist) and Chad Skowronski (MS, Educator, Artist), We Are Mosaics recognizes the true flow of life through experiencing success. We facilitate a rejuvenative process through a resource-based therapeutic approach.
Sara is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor and Board Certified Art Therapist. She received her Master of Arts Degree in Counseling and Art Therapy from Southwestern College in Santa Fe, NM, and her Bachelor of Arts Degree in International Relations from American University. She has also received a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies (CAGS) in Expressive Arts in Saas Fee, Switzerland at the European Graduate School, Arts, Health, and Society Division, where she is currently pursuing her Ph.D. Sara’s background in Counseling and the Expressive Arts Therapies gives her a unique and uplifting way of working with individuals, families and communities. Her work has been featured in numerous newspaper articles, exhibited in el Museo de Cultural and can be seen around Santa Fe and Taos, NM, Maui, Hawai’i and Lima, Peru.
Sara has spent time working with professionals and their families in the Washington D.C., Northern Virginia, and New Mexico areas, where she provided therapy to individuals and couples who were suffering from substance abuse, addiction, and trauma recovery issues. She has also worked with adolescents and children in a private practice setting where the client’s voice and knowledge is honored and held with the utmost respect. Sara has designed and implemented art therapy mental health programs for adolescents in Santa Fe and Taos, New Mexico, and art therapy and spirituality programs at Sagebrush Treatment Center in Great Falls, Virginia. Sara is also certified by the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC) as an approved provider for continuing education trainings specifically designed for professional mental health practitioners, school counselors, family therapists, psychologists, and social workers.
Sara has lived and studied in various countries around the world and draws upon a sense of togetherness. Sara has a quick mind and a vast intellectual grasp of the field of psychology combined with a strong commitment, openness, and enthusiasm for helping people grow and heal. She has a deep and ongoing interest in her own growth and development, and models that for others. Sara’s authenticity allows others to discover sides of themselves they did not know or, perhaps, had forgotten. She has a laid-back style that creates a comfortable and accepting atmosphere.
Chad’s background in Culinary Arts and Outdoor, Environmental, and Adventure Education has given him an energizing and authentic way of working with groups. Chad has spent 15+ years in the outdoor classroom working with people of all ages exploring their natural surroundings and learning lessons on the personal/communal levels. He facilitates an experiential process that focuses on community, communication and creation. Chad’s global experience in places such as Germany, the Canary Islands, the Virgin Islands, Hawai’i and Peru greatly inform his multicultural and inclusive style. Chad’s interest in education and how learners thrive in natural environments inspired him to earn a Master of Science degree in Environmental Studies with a teaching certificate in MS/HS Science. This strong foundation in education along with his rich background in a multitude of areas has allowed Chad to lead programs with adventures that include: Rock Climbing, Backpacking, Hiking, Caving, Ropes and Challenge Courses, Canoeing, River rafting, Camping, Outdoor Cooking and Nutrition, Wilderness Medicine, Primitive Skills and Survival, Leave No Trace, Environmental Education, Science and Agricultural Education, Study Abroad and Cultural Explorations and German, Spanish and English as a Second Language instruction.
With the inspiration and combination of Sara and Chad’s backgrounds, a truly unique program and facilitation style results. Our facilitation style is open and direct. We are open because we recognize and utilize each member’s resources. We are direct because we are intentional about the creative space we foster. We provide direction and space for people to feel comfortable. We are professional and laid back, adaptive and responsive to each group’s needs.
