Freeing the body to move in alignment
At The Healing Gardens we have found that myofascial release therapy often helps solve persistent physical problems that cannot be resolved by physical therapy, chiropractic treatments or massage therapy alone.
How it works
Myofascial Release (MFR) is the gentle sustained stretching of the connective tissue of the body. Trauma, inflammatory processes, and/or surgical procedures can create myofascial restrictions that can produce tensile pressures of approximately 2,000 pounds per square inch on pain-sensitive structures such as muscles, organs, lymphatics, nerves, and the circulatory system.
These restrictions do not show up in many standard tests (X-rays, myelograms, CAT scans, electromyography, etc.). Myofascial Release (myo = muscle; fascia = connective tissue) addresses the “straight-jacket” of pressure that is causing the pain and restricted range of motion.
Myofascial release therapy relieves this pain by stretching and releasing the injured fascia so muscles may return to their proper position and move freely.
